I’m very excited to announcement our upcoming family friendly picnic for multiple events that Frugal Floridians is celebrating in the following weeks!! June marks one year for the Frugal Floridians blog and June 10th is our little guys 6th Birthday!! We have also finalized that our family will be moving down to Seminole FL (Just south of Tampa) at the end of July! With so much going on in such a little amount of time we decided to roll it all into one big Frugal Floridians Celebration! While its very sad to leave the Fort Walton Beach area (my true hometown) I have accepted a great full time job to assist me in my looonnngg journey to certifying as a CPA! In an effort to get all the local blog followers together for a fun time with the family I am inviting all that can show to our little guy’s Bday / going away / Frugal Floridians One Year Celebration that will be:
June 11th from 11am-3pm
at Liza Jackson Park in Fort Walton Beach, FL
This will be a great opportunity to get all local Frugal Floridians fans together before we leave the area. At this time we do not have a “coupon talk” scheduled.. but I am trying VERY hard to sweet talk Michelle’s Couponing 101 or maybe another awesome local experienced couponer into gracing us with a presentation… we shall see!
For the event, we will have a bounce house for the kiddos, food, and TONS of giveaways for the adults! All that we ask is that if you show please bring a small dish/plate/snack/etc of some sort to add to the food offerings! Each small dish/plate/snack/etc of some sort that you bring will enter you into the raffle to win one of the many prizes that we will be offering! We will be providing hot dogs, water, Juicy Juice, and various light snacks so anything above and beyond that would be great! Prizes that will be given away at the party will range from FREE products to FREE product coupons and other great freebies!
While we will be moving away from the area, Fort Walton Beach will always remain my hometown especially because this small town was the true inspiration for this blog, I’ve been in this area for 25 years, and we are sure to come back to visit as many friends and family will still be here!! This event is a chance to thank all the local followers that truly took part in making the Frugal Floridians blog what it is today! With almost 1,500 fans on our Facebook Page, Frugal Floridians has grown tremendously from the little page that was started (May of 2010) as a way to inform friends and family of great deals and freebies!
Our event on June 11th will be a local event to coupon swap, meet and greet, win prizes, and have some fun!! We will also make the event an official drop off for expired coupons that we will be forwarding to Michelle’s Couponing 101 to send with a family heading overseas. This will be a great way to get a TON of coupons to military families abroad without having to pay international shipping rates!
Coupons for collection will have expired within the last 2 months, must be manufacturer coupons (no store coupons), and cannot be internet printables. If you could separate them by food and non-food (Non-food items = health, beauty aids, cleaning supplies, pet food, over-the-counter medicines, etc) and store them in ziploc bags (or similar container) that would assist in organizing them for distribution.
While the invite is open to all, we do appreciate any RSVP that can be sent in so that we get an idea of how many are attending. If you would like to attend please fill out this form to give us a heads up!! Each family that RSVP’s before June 8th, 2011 at 11:59pm CST with our form and shows to the celebration will also receive 1 Bonus ticket to throw in to win in the giveaways! We look forward to the event and in a perfect world all 1500 of you could attend with all of your families.. I would love to see that all the locals are able to swing by and say hi!
**Our main change to the Frugal Floridians blog after our move will be that we will no longer be able to include free + cheap events as a topic for the Fort Walton Beach (and surrounding area). If anyone sends me the info I would gladly repost, but due to the long distance I will be switching the cheap and free events that I research to match our current area of Seminole, FL (or surrounding area).
