Submitting a tip to the Clearwater Police is now easier than ever, because in the words of the heavily quoted iPhone commercial, “there’s an app for that”.

The department has launched a Clearwater PD Tips iPhone app that will allow the public to send information using technology that removes identifying information before it reaches the police, making it 100 percent anonymous.

The police can respond back, allowing a two-way anonymous chat to take place.

“This powerful, crime-fighting tool, along with our existing tip411 program, will help citizens play an active role in keeping neighborhoods safer, engage younger generations in the process and save the department time and resources,” the Clearwater Department stated in a press release.

The app can be downloaded for free at the iTunes store or from the police department’s website, www.clearwaterpolice.org.
